On Feb. 8, 1922, fire raged atop the U.S. Treasury. A newspaper reported: "Blazing scaffolding and repair materials, accompanied by the explosion of a barrel of kerosene." Eerily, flames engulfed Treasury's roof during repairs seven decades later - on June 26, 1996.
